Sometimes I need a little reminder to be thankful for all that I have. You would think Thanksgiving would be a good reminder, but I was actually pretty cranky that day because of a stubborn baby who wouldn't eat or sleep...So, being thankful slipped my mind. It's funny that Facebook actually reminded me.
Earlier today I was glancing at my newsfeed when I came across a friends comment on one of her friends photos. The picture was of a statue with Jesus and two children, a boy and a girl. The girl whose photo it was wrote, "Lucas (her husband) pointed out that the statue in the cemetery has Christ with a little girl and a younger little boy. He's with our kids :)". I was so curious I went to her profile page and found through her photo albums of two separate pregnancies, two deliveries, two babies, and two funerals, that she lost first a baby girl and then a baby boy. After looking at the pictures of her and her husband at the hospital holding their babies and then the tiny caskets at their funerals I was practically bawling. I don't know this girl, but I can't image how hard that was/is for her. I know it is something I just couldn't handle. I'm not that strong.
All this made me really appreciate my precious little boy. After throwing up through my first trimester, gaining 40 lbs by the end of my third while living in 100+ degree weather on the third floor of our apt complex, feeling the worst pain of my life and throwing up about a dozen times through labor, needing forceps, tearing really bad and losing a lot of blood during deliver, and having rude/cranky nurses in the hospital, at least my baby was alive and healthy! Even though he had colic, cries when he doesn't have attention, has acid reflux, still fights me during every feeding, and doesn't fall asleep at night without crying for at least 30 mins, I love him dearly and can't imagine if I lost him.
I really needed that reminder...
Anyway, we had a great Thanksgiving in Boise, ID. Tyler's mom is originally from there so that's where most of her family lives. Dominic met his only great-grandparents while we were there, too.

Everybody at Thanksgiving dinner. (Sorry for the poor quality, I got the pic off facebook.)
