Stay at Home Mom

Today was my first day as an official "stay at home mom". I got to experience this life back when he was a newborn, but headed off to work when he was 2 1/2 months old. It is amazing how much I can get done when I'm not working.  Also, since I'm not in my first trimester anymore I haven't been nauseous all day or exhausted. Today I cleaned the kitchen, did the dishes, cleaned our bedroom, (these may sound fast and easy, but not when you haven't done any real cleaning in a while :/ ), ran errands,  baked banana bread, went visiting teaching, blogged, oh and took care of a child, too!

Anyway, here is what we've been up to lately, and by "we" I really mean Dominic...

Playing at the park, which he LOVES!

Playing in our laundry, (those are clean by the way).

Trying new foods like apricots and loving them.

Playing in the bathtub with no water and fully clothed. He always tries to climb into the tub so finally I just let him...

Drinking his first Jamba and loving it. He taught himself to drink from a straw like three months ago, it was so crazy.

Playing in the dishwasher. Whenever I open the thing he makes a bee-line right for it. Usually I catch him before he climbs inside.

This boy is getting so big and smart. I have put away most of his 12 month clothes and pulled out all the 18 month stuff. I thought it would all be too big on him, but apparently I underestimated his size. He loves to dance. He really has only one move which is bobbing the upper half of his body. It's pretty cute. He will dance to about anything, rap music, rock music, church music, toy music, a ring tone, anything. He can stand on his own for at least a half a minute and take a few steps if we make him. He would rather just have someone walk him around everywhere...it's much easier that way!

Oops!

We aren't exactly sure how this happened, but baby Muir number two is on its way! Which is the reason for my huge neglect of this blog. I've been awfully sick and tired the last couple of months. Hopefully I will be feeling better soon as I am about 13 weeks along. I think my due date is November 10th. We are excited, although I'm pretty scared to have two kids that will only be 17 months apart in age!

Anyway, a lot has happened since I last posted. My sister Kristin and her family came down to Rexburg over Easter weekend. My two sisters who live in Utah, Angela and Allie, also came up for the weekend. It was kind of crazy, but mostly fun! Unfortunately, I got sick that same weekend. I was determined to enjoy the weekend though and I think I succeeded. Then we went up to Washington the next weekend for my nieces baptism. I can't believe she is eight already! I remember being a junior in college when she was two and I would babysit her... Time flies!

Dominic is getting so big and smart! I feel like he is changing from a baby to a toddler too fast. It's crazy how much he learns every day. He pulls himself up on everyone and everything, including his crib when it's time for bed. He cruises along all the furniture and is getting pretty daring. He can climb up an entire flight of stairs by himself so I have to keep a close watch on him. He thinks it's fun to run away or rather crawl away from me really fast. Sometimes when he laughs he squints his eyes and throws his head back. It's pretty cute. We have a really difficult time trying to get his diaper changed these days, too. As soon as you get the dirty one off he flips over and takes off. Well, there are lots more things he is learning and doing, but I don't want to bore you all so here are some pictures!

We had a BBQ at the park with some other families and a little girl there had brought her scooter. Don't let his face fool you in this picture, he thought it was the funnest thing ever!

First time riding down a slide. Obviously he loved it!

Why hello Grandpa Weathers...

Bath time with his cousin.

Just eating a strawberry.

At Eden's baptism.

He escaped the diaper change.

Climbing up on dad.

This was taken about a month ago when he first attempted to climb the stairs. I went to the bathroom and left him alone and when I came out this is what he was up to...

All tuckered out.

I knew my son looked like me, but I didn't realize how much... (He has his Dad's nose though.)

You Are My Sunshine

Sunshine Image

Luckily, Dominic hasn't had to be my sunshine today because he is one cranky teether!!! Which was to be expected. Like my mom said, "He just does everything with gusto!" Yes, he does.

We just got back from the park with these temps...

It was glorious! Please, please, PLEASE Rexburg, stay this way for the rest of spring. (I'm sure you are all laughing at my high hopes, but let a girl dream!)

On Saturday it was pretty cloudy, but we managed to see a little sun. So, we decided to go with some friends up to Warm River.
Looks warm, right?

Some of you may remember this spot from WAY back when ;).

Every time I tried to take a picture Tyler would put bread in his mouth so no smiles from Dominic.

Bringing Chubby Back

Most of you have seen this pic, right?

Well, it doesn't really do him any justice...

One of his very favorite things these days is to walk. Actually, he loves it so much that if you try and sit him down because your back hurts from walking him around everywhere he will stiffen his body so you can't. Eventually, you just have to lay him on his back or tummy, which is usually followed by screaming! If you then pick him back up to walk around he laughs with excitement. It's pretty funny.

Another favorite thing of his has been a long time love, baths!

Here is 21 lbs. of rolly poley love...

The first photo he is splashing away. I told you, the next Michael Phelps. The second he caught me taking photos..."Oh hi, mom!"

Such A Ham

I guess I haven't known a lot of little boys who like to have their picture taken...

So, when my boy started posing for the camera a few months ago it came as a bit of a surprise! If there is a camera in front of him he won't look away/stop posing until you are done. It's pretty funny. He's such a ham! (I secretly love it.) Although, sometimes it makes it difficult to take a candid shot.

He looks kind of like an old man when I comb his hair over like this...

Some fun news for us, Dominic finally learned how to army crawl! He screams as he does it, maybe because it's such hard work? I don't know. He's just happy to be able to move forward!

Valentines and Sunny Days

I'm only a couple days late on this...

Do you like his Valentine's Day outfit?

Lucky me, I got two handsome Valentines this year!

And some pretty roses...

We also went out to dinner, saw a movie, and did a little gift exchange. We don't hype up the holiday too much. Mostly we just want to spend some quality time together.

Yesterday it was so sunny we HAD to get out for a walk.

I could tell Dominic was so happy to get outside. When he does leave the apartment it is only to go inside somewhere else. The winter has been hard on us!

We Can Dream, Right?

That cute little lady is my friend's little girl. She is adorable. Although the two of them look really far apart in age, in about 4.5 years they will both go into kindergarden! We are already planning the wedding...

Anyway, our Dom Dom is eight months old today! Can you believe it?! I certainly can't.

He still isn't crawling, but he does the funniest thing with his legs. When he wants something in front of him he stretches out his arms and then digs his toes into the ground. His butt sticks straight up in the air when he does this. It's hilarious! I keep trying to catch it on video, but have yet to get a good one. Maybe I will just try and get a snap shot...
